Paragliding

Four ways to leave
the ground

Every flight is tandem, clipped to a certified pilot. The only thing that changes is how long you stay up and how high we start. Not sure? Book the Adventure Fly — it’s what four out of five people pick, and nobody regrets it.

Wind doesn’t read the calendar. If we ground you, it’s a full refund or any other day — including next season.

The Café

The only landing zone with an espresso machine

Gliders Cafe sits on the meadow at the foot of the launch mountain — which means the last thing you see before touchdown is our roof, and the first thing you smell after is coffee.

The sun deck faces the takeoff ridge straight on. Order, sit, and watch wings peel off the mountain all afternoon. Half the people on that deck flew this morning; the other half are working up to it.

Twenty seats pointed at the launch. Binoculars on the counter, free to borrow.

Proper coffee

Single-origin from Chikmagalur, ground per cup. Plus the filter coffee our pilots run on.

Bonfire nights

Lit at 7 every evening from October. Someone always brings a guitar.

Fast wifi, real desks

Starlink-backed. A quiet corner for the people working remotely between flights.

Dogs welcome

Ours are called Thermal and Sinky. Yours are welcome to join them.

Gear room & hot showers

Lockers, a drying rack for wet rafting kit, and showers you'd actually use.

Why we say safest

Anyone can sell you a flight. We'd rather show you the checklist.

Manali has a lot of operators and not all of them fly by the book. Here is exactly what happens before your feet leave the ground — ask any operator in the valley the same questions.

  1. 01

    Pilots who are actually certified

Every tandem pilot holds a current APPI or DGCA-recognised tandem rating, carries their licence on them, and has logged a minimum of 500 tandem flights before they ever fly a guest. Ask to see the card — we like being asked.

  2. 02

    Gear with a paper trail

EN-certified tandem wings retired at 300 hours regardless of how they look. Reserve parachutes repacked every 90 days with the date written on the outside. Every harness, carabiner and helmet logged with a serial number and an inspection date.

  3. 03

    A real no-fly rule

Wind window checked at launch, mid-station and landing before the first flight of the day, then every hour. If the numbers are wrong we ground everything and refund you in full. We cancel roughly one day in nine during season — that is the point.

  4. 04

    Radio, ground crew, insurance

Your pilot is on radio with the landing zone for the entire flight. A first-aid-certified crew member is on the meadow whenever a wing is in the air. Every guest is covered by accident insurance included in the price, not sold as an extra.

Run before every flight

Eight items. No exceptions.

  • Pilot licence & tandem rating verified
  • Reserve parachute repack date under 90 days
  • Wing hours logged and within limits
  • Harness, carabiners & helmet serial-checked
  • Wind readings at launch, mid & landing
  • Guest weight matched to wing and pilot
  • Radio comms tested with ground crew
  • Insurance active on the day of flight

“Ask any operator in Manali to show you the reserve repack date. The answer tells you everything.”

I had booked with someone else in Solang and walked away because nobody could show me a licence. At Gliders Cafe, Priya handed me her card before I asked, then walked me through the reserve repack dates. Flew twenty minutes with Tashi and cried a bit at the top.

Landed on the meadow, walked forty steps, and there was a flat white waiting on the deck. My wife who refused to fly spent the whole morning watching from that deck with a crumble. Both of us got the trip we wanted.

They cancelled our slot at 9 am because of a wind shift and refunded us on the spot, no drama, no pressure to reschedule. We came back the next morning and it was the best flight of my life. That cancellation is why I'm writing this.

Did the full send — flew, rafted, jumped, zipped, ate too much siddu. The bungee jumpmaster explained the twin-cord setup twice because I was nervous. Genuinely felt looked after the whole two days.

Took my 62-year-old father up. Vikram flew him himself, kept it smooth, landed him gently, then sat with him for chai for half an hour. Dad has told everyone in our building.

Before you book

The questions
we get every day

If the answer you need isn’t here, message us. Someone who actually flies will reply, not a chatbot.

Do I need any experience to fly?

None. Every flight we sell to guests is a tandem — you are clipped to a certified pilot who does all the flying. Your entire job is to run four or five steps at launch and then sit down. We brief you for ten minutes before you go up.

What are the age and weight limits?

Paragliding: age 5 to 80, and 20–110 kg. Under 12 and over 65 fly with a senior pilot only, and we may need a smaller wing — tell us at booking. Rafting is 12+, bungee is 14–55 and 40–110 kg, zipline is 8+ and 25–120 kg.

When is the best time to come?

March to June gives long, strong, high flights. September to December gives crisp, stable air and the best visibility of the snow line — our favourite. We do not fly in July and August: the monsoon makes the air unusable and anyone selling you a flight then is guessing.

What happens if the weather turns?

We check the wind window at launch, mid-station and landing before the first flight and then hourly. If it is outside limits we ground everything. You choose a full refund or a free reschedule to any day, including next season. There is no cancellation fee from our side, ever.

Will I feel sick?

Paragliding is much smoother than most people expect — closer to a chairlift than a rollercoaster, unless you specifically ask for acro. If you are prone to motion sickness, book the first slot of the morning when the air is calmest, skip a heavy breakfast, and tell your pilot. They will fly you flat.

What should I wear?

Closed shoes you can run a few steps in — trainers or trekking shoes, no sandals or slides. A warm layer, because it's 10–12 °C cooler at 2,800 m than at the café. Sunglasses, and long sleeves in summer. Leave loose hats and scarves behind; we provide the helmet and harness.

Do I get a video?

Yes. 4K GoPro footage and stills are included free on Adventure Fly, High Fly and Cross Country. On The Joyride it's an ₹800 add-on, or your pilot will take phone photos for free. You get the files on the spot over wifi at the café — we don't mail them later.

How do I get to Dobhi?

We're on NH-3 on the Kullu–Manali highway: 22 km south of Manali town (40 min), 18 km north of Bhuntar airport (30 min). Any Manali-bound bus will drop you at Dobhi. Add hotel pickup to your booking and a jeep will collect you from anywhere between Kullu and Manali.

Can I book for a group?

Yes, and it's cheaper. Groups of six or more get a dedicated pilot rotation so nobody waits around, plus a reserved table on the deck. Mention your headcount in the booking form and we'll call you with a group rate.

How do I pay?

Nothing online right now. You book a slot through the form, we call you to confirm the weather and the time, and you pay at the café by UPI, card or cash on the day. Nothing is charged if we cancel or if you don't fly.
